Mixing & Mastering Engineer
Selim Sayari
Mixing and mastering engineer based in Cyprus.
Biography
Selim Sayari’s musical life began in the 1980s, playing in rock bands at school in a generation that included Sarp Maden and Cengiz Baysal. He went on to play in further groups and crossed paths with İlhan İrem.
When the arabesque wave of the era left little room for rock bands, he moved into his family’s profession, journalism. He has no formal music training, yet music never left his life, and his work later took him to Cyprus, where he joined the local music community.
Mastering grew out of necessity. An album he had played guitar on, recorded at MDM Studios in Istanbul, was remixed by Mehmet Uğur Memiş, and Selim mastered it himself. Encouraged by Memiş to keep going, he began mastering professionally.
Today he works on a hybrid analog and digital setup, convinced that the best results come from combining both worlds.
“Motone is one of the most iconic EQ which inspired all of us with it’s color and musicality for decades. Interaction between fixed 7 bands make this EQ very sophisticated tone shaping tool. NoiseAsh’s proprietary modeling technology gives you exact analog hardware tone and feeling. MOTONE has that vintage mojo, vibe and color. I’m so impressed!”
“Backs EQ collection has Baxandall’s super wide, sophisticated silky curves make tracks come to life. Backs adds punchy low end and make the mids and top end shimmer. Backs revolutionary mid band makes this legendary high-end equailizer one single awesome tool for mastering and mixing. Simply great!”
“NoiseAsh has done amazing emulations again and raised the bar! NEED series not only sound phenomenal also behave precisely as they do in the hardware with extended functions like M/S processing. They have surprisingly that lush analog sound with much more clarity and focus. These are serious tools for anyone who’s serious about great sound.”
